Paint Party 15 is here and I have two paintings to show you.
This first one is an aceo called 'Bunny Lovin'. I seem to be doing a lot of bunny aceo paintings for some reason...in fact, since my daughter adopted a house rabbit, Moe. He is so cute and litter trained too! He has never piddled anywhere except his litter box. What a good little bunny.
This second painting is the one that has captured my heart. It's a 16x20 oil painting that I call 'Innocence'
This painting is of Buddy the deer, an orphaned fawn that Duncan and LuAnn McCannel of Rice Lake, Wisconsin saved. The McCannels were kind enough to give me permission to paint from one of their photo's that they have on Buddy's Fan page. Yes, Buddy has a fan page and he now has 692 fans.
The story of Buddy is heart warming and endearing with a sad ending. Basically, the orphaned fawn followed the McCannels' dogs home and once they realized the fawn was indeed orphaned, they did what most of us humans would have done and cared for the little guy themselves. Buddy loved pontoon rides and if they tried to go pontooning without him, Buddy would just swim out to them. He touched many peoples lives and hearts, and I have to tell you that while I was painting his adorable face tears came to my eyes quite a few times. Buddy's life unfortunately and wrongfully ended, in my opinion by the DNR shooting him because of complaints of some neighbors. Many people are up in arms about this tragic ending. Buddy's memory will never die. This is where you can read the whole story and Here.
Oh, how did I find out about this story? WCCO News.

Hi Brenda. I love your two little rabbits just sitting their with their backsides to us minding their business. So cute. Your deer is just awesome, so innocent looking. I love deer, it's unfortunate people have to hunt them down or that they get hit by cars. :( anyway, have a great weekend and your pieces are just awesome. Happy PPF!
ah, a sad story indeed.
Your art is charming. I just saw a wee fawn when I walked to the mailbox, so this is perfect timing.
Hi Brenda..your art is so beautiful and both carry such a beautiful soul essence..captivtaing creatures...gorgeous rabbits..and i LOVE the fawn..how special and touching you did this!

Victoria
Thank you so much Gloria, Tammie and Victoria.
You really make beautiful art. Such a sad story about this adorable fawn. Happy PPF, Annette x
Love your bunnies and the fawn! So sweet!!
darling. both paintings.
Next on my list is ACEO's! Maybe next paint party.
Love your bunnies and your fawn is adorable. Such a sad story. Humans mean well, but I do believe the wild should be left alone. Although I know our intentions are good, most of the time it just doesn't work out.
Great tribute!
What great bunnies. I have always wanted a house rabbit, but I am afraid my dogs would think I brought home dinner and a show.
Buddy's portrait is beautiful, but I can't bear to go read his story, it would be The Yearling trauma all over again.
lovely paintings, I didn't know bunnies could be toilet trained! So sorry about the deer.
Thank you ladies. Yes, Christine, bunnies can be litter trained. Pretty cool huh?
just beautiful love them both,,
The love bunnies are adorable and I really felt the emotion of the second painting because it has such a sad story behind it. You captured that look of disbelief in his eyes. Great job!
Wow! Love these! Bunnies are the cutest. :)
Lovely work, Brenda! Recently had an encounter with 2 fawns and mom strolling down the street! Inside the city limits but in a quiet neighborhood - I live in a magical place.
Thank you so much Laurie, Ileana, Natasha and Lee. I know Buddy had a sad ending, but he had a wonderful and caring family who loved him while he was alive, and they will always have their memories of him.
Lovely, lovely. I really like rabbits.
It looks like you have been watching Bambi!
These are wonderful but what a story about Buddy and such a sad ending. :(
Fawn very accomplished, I've been prendda your eyes ....¡ Great! Saludos
Enjoying the unusual composition of the rabbit work. Very thoughtful. You capture the innocent look of the fawn so well. Enjoying the color palette of both artwork. Wonderful!
Tee hee!! Those little bunny tails are making me laugh. Love it: Thanks for sharing. :)
Ahhh your Bunny and Buddy paintings are so adorable. So sad about Buddy though! Ahhhh.
Nice pics and i love this art.
Oh Brenda I'm sitting in tears after reading Buddy's story. What a crying shame that people complained because he ate flowers! Such a beautiful creature and you have done him justice with your beautiful painting of him. Thanks for telling us about Buddy's sad story.
The paintings are beautiful and good and colorful for the eyes.
